The Friends of the Supergrid (FOSG) is very pleased to announce that ABB has become a new member of the Association.
As one of the world leaders in power and automation technologies, ABB is an essential partner that FOSG is very proud to count on among its expertise. Supergrid will be developed and built using the next generation of HVDC technology thanks to which it will not only be possible to transmit electricity efficiently from remote locations to the urban areas where most of us live and work but also enable a more interconnected grid that facilitates balancing of loads and pooling of resources.
ABB has several R&D projects underway to develop technologies that will help make such visionary ideas a reality while minimizing environmental impact.
Technology affects our daily lives in more ways than we might imagine and the limits of what is technologically possible have been greatly expanded and will expand even more in the future thanks to the committment of companies like ABB.
“As a pioneer and market leader in HVDC technology we believe that we can contribute with both experience and know-how to this association and look forward working with the other members of the group” said Martin Gross, Head of ABB’s Grid Systems business, a part of ABB’s Power Systems division.
FOSG counts on 23 members including: 3E, ABB, ACS-Cobra, ALSTOM, CESI, CG, DEME Blue Energy, DONG Energy, Elia, General Electric, Hochtief Solutions AG, INTEL, Mainstream Renewable Power, UK National Grid, Nexans, Parsons Brinckerhoff, Prysmian Cables & Systems, Red Eléctrica of Spain, RTE-France, Siemens, Vattenfall, Visser & Smit Marine Contracting and wpd offshore.
